Please Note: All information on this page is subject to change as we gradually resume Club activities, in response to the impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic LocationMonthly club dances are currently held at [...] SCHEDULEClub dances have historically been held on the first Saturday of each month. Classes typically run from 7pm-8pm, with Social Dancing from 8pm - 12am (midnight). The music will be predominately most suitable for West Coast Swing dancing. Throughout the evening a few songs that are more suited to other styles of social dances may be played. ContestsDance contests are run at most of the monthly Club dance, and do not have any gender role restrictions. These are usually "Luck of the Draw" contests which are open to all skill levels. This is a Mix & Match style dance competition, where dancers sign up as individuals. Partnerships are chosen randomly (such as rolling dice, picking cards, or drawing names out of a bucket). Each pairing must demonstrate good social dance skills, as they dance to music selected by the DJ.
For variety, the Club may occasionally also run a "Strictly Swing" contest, where dancers sign up as a partnership. This is still an improvisational style of competition where good social dance skills are demonstrated, as the music is chosen by the DJ. As a special event, choreographed routines may be performed, but these are not judged and are not part of the contests run by the Club. | $ COST For Next Gen Members (and Members of Sister-Clubs)
