Next Gen Elections

TNGSDC wants YOU! Election of new Board of Directors

Every March, a new Board is elected by our Club members. The Board includes a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Director and up to five Independent Directors. The Club's Board consists of volunteers who are responsible for overseeing the operations of the Club. This includes our monthly dances, our annual Boogie by the Bay convention, and other Club activities. The Board has the responsibility to make decisions on behalf of the Club, adopt budgets, expend funds, and enter into contracts.

Serving on the Board is an excellent way to learn about what it takes to manage a corporation -- but even better, it is a great way to get to know your fellow dancers. The Founders Committee, which is comprised of people experienced in running the Club, serve in an advisory capacity and are always available to assist and advise, if requested.

Please consider nominating qualified people (including yourself!) for a Board position. You can send an e-mail nomination to We will be holding a brief informational meeting for Board candidates just before our Saturday, March 7 dance from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Two Left Feet in Danville. Candidates, Next Gen members and nonmembers are welcome to attend. Please join us if you’re interested in running for the Board, or merely want to learn more.

Janelle Guido

Janelle began competing in the West Coast Swing circuit in 2009 and now competes in the Champion division. In 2015, she won the NASDE Jack and Jill Tour and is a recipient of the California Swing Dance Hall of Fame “Nova Star” award. For the past 10 years, she has spread her love of West Coast Swing in the Bay Area to students wanting to learn, improve, or perfect the dance skills. She prides herself on being able to tailor her lessons so that students of all experience levels will always feel challenged while still having fun! In 2010, Janelle was also a recipient of the Next Generation Swing dance scholarship so we are so excited to have her teaching at Next Gen.

Amber O'Connell

Amber recently graduated from UC Davis and is excited to get back into West Coast Swing. With first place wins at Sacramento All Swing, Bogie by the Bay, and Swingtacular, she’s sure to bring a good time! In 2017 she began teaching West Coast Swing in Redding, CA and since has taken multiple teaching opportunities in the area. She is looking forward to teaching at Next Gen and is ready to bring a comforting atmosphere and engaging class for our next generation of swing dancers.

Peter Yin

Peter began dancing with the West Philly Swingers Lindy Hop while attending  the University of Pennsylvania. He stumbled upon West Coast Swing in 2016 with his first visit to Mission City Swing where he began teaching classes in 2019. He has a passion for the music, connection, and community that surrounds West Coast Swing. He has competed all over the United States and now dances at the All Star level. Peter's work as a software engineer gives him an eye for detail, which comes across in his music. Peter plays  fun, funky grooves that keep you moving all night long.
