Jason and Yvonne Wayne
Jason began country dancing in the 1990's before he found his passion for West Coast Swing. He competes at the Champion level West Coast Swing nationwide. In addition to West Coast Swing, Jason also teaches Lindy Hop, Salsa, and Ballroom. His unique style and movement opens students and his dance partners up to seeing new possibilities in their dancing.
Yvonne also began dancing in the 1990's and has extensive knowledge in Ballroom, Country, Swing, Latin and Line Dancing. In addition to teaching dance and owning dance studios, Yvonne is also the first Professional Country Dance World Champion. She also competes in the Champion division across the United States.
Together, Jason and Yvonne created and operate West Coast Swing University and the Northern California Swing Dance Challenge. They are also huge supporters of youth dance programs around the Bay Area. They believe that building a "backyard" of dancers is the key to growing our dance community and sharing the love of dance worldwide.
Michelle first saw West Coast Swing in 2009 while working as a janitor at her local ballroom studio, a job she originally had taken to help pay for lessons in the Rhythm and Smooth styles. She quickly fell in love with West Coast Swing and started training in the dance. By 2012 she was competing and teaching lessons. Michelle has continued her education in several different dance and movement theories and works to incorporate that knowledge into her dance and instruction. She now dances in the All Star division and has participated in the Rising Star Tour. Her proudest achievement is facilitating the continuing growth of the South Bay West Coast Swing community through her weekly dance class known as Do Your Own Swing.
Ray started his DJing career 4 years ago at WnY and has had the opportunity to grow with the support of Next Gen and guidance from Boogie by the Bay co-event director, Beth Bellamy. From this, he has grown into a professional DJ, working at many events across the country, including Boogie by the Bay.
