Next Gen Dance
February 6th, 2016
Please join The Next Generation Swing Dance Club at the Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville for our monthly club dance on Saturday, February 6th, 2016, from 6 PM until late. We look forward to seeing you there.
Our DJs are Glenn Cravalho and Melissa Rutz. The DJ mix is primarily West Coast Swing, but also contains a few songs for other social and swing dances. Melissa Rutz will also teach our beginning WCS lesson from 7 - 8 PM in the back room.
We continue our 2016 Luck of the Draw (LOD) Jack and Jill series this month with Round II. Please register at the front desk no later than 8:15 PM. Winners of this and subsequent LOD rounds will compete in August for complimentary tickets to Boogie By The Bay 2016.
We are now checking membership cards at the door. We want to make
dances more secure and ensure that current members receive the dance
discount membership benefit. So make sure to bring your card with you to
speed up the process at the register!
The address of the Allegro Ballroom
is 5855 Christie Avenue, Emeryville, and is conveniently located off of
I-80 next to the Powell Street exit (just past the IKEA and Trader
Joe's). Coming from I-80, take the Powell Street exit headed East, turn
left on Christie Avenue just past the Denny's, and turn left into the
parking lot at the last entrance in front of the strip of buildings. The
Allegro is to the back of the strip.
TNGSDC Wants YOU!
Board of Directors Election
Every March a new Board is elected by our Club members. The Board includes a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Director and up to five Independent Directors. The Club's Board consists of volunteers who are responsible for overseeing the operations of the Club. This includes our monthly dances at Allegro Ballroom, our annual Boogie by the Bay convention, and other Club activities. The Board has the responsibility to make decisions on behalf of the Club, adopt budgets, expend funds, and enter into contracts.
Serving on the Board is an excellent way to learn about what it takes to manage a corporation—but even better, it is a great way to get to know your fellow dancers. The Founders Committee, which is comprised of people experienced in running the Club, serve in an advisory capacity and are always available to assist and advise, if requested.
Please consider nominating qualified people (including yourself!) for a Board position. You can submit a nomination in person at our January or February Next Gen dances. You can also send an e-mail to andybouman @ yahoo.com.
We will be holding a brief informational meeting for Board candidates just before our Saturday, March 5 dance at 5 p.m. at the Allegro Ballroom. Candidates, Next Gen members, and nonmembers are welcome to attend. Please join us if you’re interested in running for the Board, or merely want to learn more.
